Religious But Still Empty
Joshua & Alisha

Religious Rituals won’t cut it. You must be Born Again!
Most would’ve classified Joshua & Alisha as Christian.
Admittedly, they too would’ve claimed Christianity as their religion of choice if asked on a form or in casual conversation. However, they weren’t truly saved.
“As a teenager I remember being at a big religious meeting where something like 99% of the kids went forward to the front of the room and ‘became Christian,’ but I just went forward because I didn’t want to be the only one left in the empty audience.”
“A few years ago, a bunch of our friends we’re getting baptized at a huge church. We wanted a fresh start, so we did it too. But nothing really changed for us.”
I asked them to describe their relationship with God.
With great sincerity and trembling in his voice Josh said, ”I don’t think I have one. Like I’m empty inside and dead in my heart.”
Alisha admitted, “We’ve done all the things we’ve been told to do in every church we’ve attended but still have no peace for our souls.”
I told them the story of Nicodemus (John 3:1-21) and what it means to be truly born again. In detail I explained the gospel of Jesus Christ and watched the Light of Truth enter their eyes and the understanding of their hearts were opened. They Awoke!
“Do you understand and believe these truths? Would you like to receive Christ as your Savior?”
Both, with tears welling up and spilling out, “YES! That’s what we want.”
Once again, Starbucks on Blue Diamond Road witnessed the humble prayers of two new believers who put their faith in Christ! They were saved! Josh & Alisha were born again today!
