  • Josh Teis - LEad Pastor

    Josh Teis grew up in a pastor’s family in Las Vegas, Nevada. At a young age put his trust in Jesus as Savior and surrendered to full-time ministry at 15. He earned his BA in Pastoral Theology from Pensacola Christian College where he met his wife, Heather. He’s received his MA from Pensacola Theological Seminary and M-Div from Liberty University. Josh and Heather minister in Las Vegas at Southern Hills Baptist Church, a wonderful congregation which they established together nearly 14 years ago. The church has grown to over 1,000 in membership and continues to see even more in weekly attendance. They have one son, Jonathan David, and two daughters, Savannah Tyler and Scarlett Noel.

  • Fred Murray - Executive Pastor

    Pastor Fred Murray is a Las Vegas native. Fred attended college at Pensacola Christian College and graduated with his Bachelor’s degree and his Master’s in Bible Exposition from Pensacola Theological Seminary. Fred recently earned an additional Master’s degree in Management and Leadership from Liberty University. God brought Fred to Southern Hills Baptist Church in 2007 where he serves as the Executive Pastor. Fred and Kelly have two sons named Shepherd and Liam. As Executive Pastor, Fred supports and implements the pastor's vision  by overseeing the staff and church operations.

  • Jason Coombes - Creative Pastor

    Pastor Jason Coombes grew up in a pastor’s home in the state of Indiana. The early influence of the Bible and godly parents allowed Jason to see his need of salvation at age seven. Since that time, the Lord has guided him to serve in full-time ministry. At Pensacola Christian College, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in sacred music. While at college, Jason met his wife, Kimberly who also has a Bachelor and a Master’s degree in music. They were married in June of 2001. As Program Pastor, Jason leads Sunday morning worship, directs the choir, plans church-wide events, and organizes the volunteer ministry.

  • Matt ehlen - Executive Assistant

    Matt was born and raised here in Las Vegas, NV.  He graduated with a bachelors from West Coast Baptist College in 2015 and is expected to complete his Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2019.  Matt met his wife Madison while attending seminary in Texas, and they were married in June 2018.  Matt served in Texas as a youth pastor for two years and  now serves at Southern Hills assisting Pastor Fred Murray in areas of correspondence, communication, and project management as well as providing a high-level of support in the church's executive level.

  • anna Solis - Lead Program Assistant

    Anna was born and raised in Coastal Georgia.  At six years old, in her home after AWANA, she prayed and accepted Christ as Savior. Anna has a passion for music and literature that she pursued throughout high school, college, and grad school where she completed degrees in English. She became a member of Southern Hills when her family moved to Las Vegas in August of 2004. It was at Southern Hills that she met her husband Derek whom she married in 2013, and in February 2018, their miracle baby was born. Anna joined the staff of Southern Hills Baptist Church in June of 2016. As Lead Program Assistant, Anna assists Pastor Jason Coombes with preparing music for each Sunday, planning church-wide events, and organizing volunteer ministries.

  • Chris Owens - Small Group Pastor

    Chris was born and raised in Colorado. He attended college at Pensacola Christian College and Theological Seminary and also a Doctorate degree from Covington Theological Seminary. He has served as a youth pastor in California, and a senior pastor in Florida. Chris and his wife, Melissa have 3 children named Callie, Parker, and Chloe.  As Small Groups Pastor, Chris is responsible to equip current leaders with necessary resources and training for their groups, and also help prospective leaders begin, grow, and retain members in new small groups.

  • Caleb sargent - youth pastor

    Caleb was born and raised in a Christian home in the New England area. When he was 13, his family moved to Murfreesboro, TN, where Caleb attended Christian school and surrendered to full-time ministry at the age of fourteen. Caleb completed his undergraduate degree in Pastoral Theology in 2010 and his graduate degree in Bible in 2011 from West Coast Baptist College. Caleb married the love of his life, Ruthy, in 2011 and together they are expecting their first son in October 2018. Filled with an obvious love and enthusiasm for teenagers, Caleb served as a youth pastor for seven years in Houston, TX before God called him to serve as the youth pastor for Southern Hills.

  • Blake Hunt - church host

    Blake was born and raised in New Jersey. At the age of eighteen he surrendered to vocational ministry. This lead him to a Bachelor of Arts degree at Pensacola Christian College, where he fell in love with his wife, Lisa. After school Blake worked in the corporate world for two years, before being called to Southern Hills. Blake and Lisa have one son named Liam. As Church Host, Blake assists guests in their first steps at Southern Hills, as well as teaching the newcomers class on Sundays.

  • Heather Teis - Lead pastor's wife & women's Ministry

    Heather has served in ministry alongside of her husband Josh since their marriage in 2001. Originally from Alabama, she has since grown to love the city and people of Las Vegas. She enjoys hiking with her family, watching her kids play sports, rooting for Alabama Football, and getting alone with a good book and some chocolate. She loves serving as a counselor and coordinator for the Ladies ministry as well as assisting her husband with the various ministries at Southern Hills. As Lead Pastor's Wife and Women's Ministry Leader, Heather is available for premarital, marital, and ladies' counseling. She also coordinates the quarterly ladies events, speaks at conferences, hosts church-wide events alongside her husband, and assists in office responsibilities as needed.

  • Kylie Dulo - Missions Coordinator

    Kylie Suttle was born and raised in Florida where she received Christ at the age of four. Kylie spent seven years in Southern California; four of those years she studied to receive her bachelor’s in 2014 from West Coast Baptist College. In 2015 she finished her Master’s while continuing to work on staff for the college.  Kylie’s position as Missions Coordinator allows her to be completely immersed in assisting our local and international missionaries in their works. A huge passion of hers is understanding culture and connecting other cultures to Christ. She comments, “It’s amazing how that no matter where you travel in the world to visit fellow Christians, from Vegas to Vanuatu, our God is the same God.”

  • Mikel Simmons ii - Media Coordinator

    Mikel has lived in Las Vegas his entire life. At the age of 4, he accepted Christ as his Savior. He attended Liberty Baptist Academy throughout high school, then after graduating high school, he attended Pensacola Christian College where he graduated with a Bible degree. Mikel currently serves as the media director and prays that God would use his passions for media and music to further the Gospel here in Las Vegas. As Media Coordinator, Mikel oversees all the content on the church’s social media. Also, he prepares all the media for the Sunday morning services.

  • madison ehlen - graphic designer

    Madison is an Atlanta, Georgia native and loves all things art and design. She received a bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design from Pensacola Christian College and has been pursuing using her skills for ministry ever since. Madison moved to Las Vegas with her husband, Matt Ehlen, with the hope of serving the city in whatever ways God opened the door. She is currently serving as a graphic designer here at Southern Hills Baptist Church. She is passionate about bringing together art, media, and theology to help people relate to the beauty of the Gospel.

    She is a Myers-Briggs enthusiast, and is obsessed with figuring out the MBTI type of every person she meets.

  • Cody Kishimoto - Program Assistant

    Cody was born and raised in Kaneohe, Hawaii, where he attended a Christian school and surrendered to full-time ministry at the age of 16. He graduated from Hawaii Baptist College where he received his Bachelor's degree in Church Ministries. In Hawaii,  he served in his church as the maintenance supervisor for three years. In 2018, Cody married his beautiful wife Kelsie, and together they are excited to serve the Lord at Southern Hills.

    Kelsie is from the San Francisco Bay Area, where she attended a private Christian school and got saved at the age of 7. After high school, she attended West Coast Baptist College for four years where she studied elementary education and music. Kelsie moved to the Hawaiian Island of Oahu where she taught 4th grade for 2 years and met Cody, her husband. Some of her favorite hobbies include drawing and binge watching Food Network.

  • Melanie Graves - Pastoral Assistant

    Melanie was born and raised in Kaufman, Texas. After graduating from high school, she worked at the Baptist General Convention of Texas in Dallas for 10 years. While there, she met and married her husband, Gary. They Have two children, Jessica and Jonathan. Melanie loves living here in the desert surrounded by mountains and being able to hike. She’s constantly in awe of God’s beauty! As Lead Pastor’s Assistant, Melanie assists Pastor Josh Teis and Mrs. Heather Teis with appointment scheduling and prayer requests. She is also the Connect Desk Receptionist.

  • Emily Lanting - Bookkeeper

    Emily was born to Christian parents and raised in southwest Louisiana, receiving Christ at the age of seven. She earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Ouachita Baptist University and has worked in accounting and accounting management positions for several different companies. She and her husband, Eric, have been members of Southern Hills since 2008. They have three children: Grace, John and Mark.

  • Akeem and Jaime Smith - Church Planters to Oakland, Ca

    Akeem accepted Jesus Christ as Savior as a 17-year-old, and after high school, attended West Coast Baptist Bible College where God began to pivot his faith towards full-time, occupational ministry. He also met his wife Jaime there. Jaime was raised in Lancaster, California, and was a member of Lancaster Baptist Church. One year after graduating college, Jaime moved to the Bay Area and taught at a private school for 3 years while Akeem transitioned to ministry in Las Vegas for one year. It was during their three years of long distant relationship God began to guide Akeem’s heart towards starting a church in the Bay Area. As he fell in love with Jaime he also fell in Love with the city. Akeem pursued a master’s degree in Florida, and after graduation, he and Jaime were married. They then moved to Las Vegas and began serving on staff at Southern Hills. After seeking God's divine direction, they believe God has called them to start a church in San Francisco bay area, specifically Oakland California! 

  • Brandon and Kate Snook - Missionaries to Togo, West africa

    Brandon and Kate Snook have been called to serve in the nation of Togo. The Snooks have an extensive background in medicine as well as inBible training; Togo is a nation that needs the Gospel. Brandon and Kate will be teaming up with the Association of Baptist for World Evangelism to help reach the people of Togo through one of the two Christian hospitals run by ABWE in Togo: Hospital of Hope in the North and Hospital Baptiste Biblique - HBB in the South. These hospitals function to help the suffering Togolese population’s  physical needs. Moreover, they exist as a platform to reach lost souls for Christ, plant indigenous, local, Bible-believing churches, and train the Togolese in medicine and surgery.
